Public House
The decking adjacent to the main entrance of a public house in the Midlands is used as a direct entrance to the pub and also as a seating area for customers. The composite material from which the decking was constructed was found to have very poor slip resistance in wet conditions. A disabled access ramp on the same site constructed from the same material was also very dangerous in terms of slip resistance.
A clear, liquid applied, non slip coating system was applied to the entire area of decking and ramp incorporating a quartz non slip quartz particle. The surface was slip tested using a slip assessment tester following completion of the work. The wet slip resistance was increased from 33 SRV to 65 SRV dramatically improving the safety of the surface.
