Quarry Tiles

A serious slip accident with subsequent claim came as a result of the extremely slippery floor tiles in the shower area in the facilities block of a large commercial office block. The small quarry tiles to the showers toilets and disabled cubicle were extremely slippery when wet despite the fact that they were "ant-slip" tiles.

In 2006 To improve safety following slip assessment testing the floor tiles were treated with a non slip invisible treatment. There was little change to the appearance of the tiles but a substantial increase in wet slip resistance from 22 SRV to over 40 SRV. The results since completion of the work have been no further slip accidents.
