Railway Station
This sloping pedestrian access ramp in a north east railway station was tiled with ceramic floor tiles. When tested with a Pendulum Slip Assessment tool these tiles were found to have a low slip resistance. The danger of slip accidents was also increased by the steep degree of slope.
In 2008 the entire area of tiles was treated with a non slip invisible safety surfacing treatment. The work was carried out at night to over 35m2 of tiles with the results of an increase in wet slip resistance and reduction in number of reported incidents.
