This sloping pedestrian access ramp in a north east railway station was tiled with ceramic floor tiles. When tested with a Pendulum Slip Assessment tool these tiles were found to have a low slip resistance. The danger of slip accidents was also increased by the steep degree of slope.

In 2008 the entire area of tiles was treated with a non slip invisible safety surfacing treatment. The work was carried out at night to over 35m² of tiles with the results of an increase in wet slip resistance and reduction in number of reported incidents.
