This quarry tiled access ramp to the entrance of a local authority building was dangerous for both pedestrians and people pushing wheel chairs. The quarry tiles had a very smooth surface which offered little if any wet slip resistance.
In 2005 the ramp was first thoroughly cleaned to remove all surface contamination and grease. All quarry tiles were then treated with a clear moisture reactive non slip safety system. Finally a grid was formed in stripes in a non slip hard wearing liquid resin system. No slips have been reported since completion of the work.
