The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 was introduced to end discrimination against disabled people. It is now law that any building that is used by the public or by employees should be user friendly or DDA compliant for disabled or partially sighted people.
DDA Compliance is extremely important when considering access and entry points to buildings. Anti-slip ramps for wheel chair access must be available. All steps must have nosing highlights to aid the partially sighted. Landing areas at the top and bottom of steps must have Tactile hazard warning surfaces to aid the blind and partially sighted.
Surefoot Systems can provide a range of systems to assist with DDA compliance in entrance ways and building access points that can be installed with minimal structural disturbance and inconvenience.
